Filing Homeowners Insurance Claims

If friends accidentally burned your kitchen down, would you file a claim w/ your homeowners Insurance?
or is that really squeezed out under the random act of an idiot clause?

As long as the accident wasn’t proved to be arson, the act should be covered by the insurance company, now what you are really asking is if you do file will the insurance company peruse negligence on the those who committed the irresponsible act. The twist here that the insurance company has to face in suing the culprits, is your liability … did you give permission to the responsible party to be cooking, or smoking in your kitchen; then they are due to pay out … with an increase in your insurance payments. Note if they were cooking meth or committing some other “illegal” act, then they are responsible regardless.
